HOME MOVING TIPS
I’m ready to move now what do I do? It’s stressful, use our tips to help you move.
You have your date, you’ve booked us what next?
Declutter
Taking 15 mins per day to declutter will help you pack more efficiently. We always forget what we have or no longer use, surprise yourself and have a declutter.
Organised Packing
Save those boxes or buy some online or at a Storage facility. When you do pack have scissors and tape handy. Lastly label each box with the room it’s going to. This will help us to place your boxes in the best places for you to unpack.
Try not to overload your boxes. Health and Safety is always important for you and our delivery crews. We also want to ensure nothing gets damaged in transit.
If you have cases or containers on wheels, consider using these as well, you will remember this tip as you move from room to room.
Make sure all delicate items are bubble wrapped or protected in layers of paper.
Make sure your liquids are firmly closed and taped to avoid spillage’s when we carefully move your boxes. If you have to pack small items, we suggest packing them into smaller boxes and then into a bigger box. This will help things from getting tangled up or missing.
Use food bags, to keep all screws and bolts together. We also suggest labelling them as it will help to identify what they are from.
Electrical Items
Always defrost freezers and dry them. This will reduce odours. Please bear in mind that your freezer will also need 24 hours once it has been moved. This will help the gasses to settle.
When unplumbing a washing machine and dryer. Always unplug the hose and empty, open your drum for a few days and let it dry out.
Always clean your oven before moving if possible to avoid grease coming into contact with your items.
Use an authorised Gas Safety engineer to disconnect your Gas appliances.
What do I need for the Moving Day
Consider the personal or clothing items you need for the moving day and the day after. After this busy day you need these things at hand to help you unwind and plan your unpacking.
